The last week has been a gift of sunny days wrapped with brand new daffodils and forsythia. Gwen and I have gotten out often and we LOVE it! Spring, you are so wonderful! Summer, we are racing to meet you!

March Birthdays

In my family there are 3 March birthdays. I had the bright idea to marry into a family with 3 more March birthdays... and this doesn't count my or my husband's extended family which would add another 4 or 5. So the third month of each year is known as March Madness. Gwendolyn was born in September much to the delight of my calendar which could bear no more ink on the March page. But her half-birthday is in March... so she can continue to be part of the family.

I can't believe my sweet little baby is half way through her first year. The time has past so quickly. She is doing amazingly well adjusting to the world. She is happy about everything, always laughing and smiling. Gwen is a delightful baby and has reached so many milestones already! I am so looking forward to the second half of her first year. The major milestones yet to come: teething, which she has just started--or so says the bump on her gum, crawling, walking, eating solids, and talking--the one I am most excited about. Sleep or the Lack-There-Of

Now that Gwen is at the ripe old age of (almost) 6 months we (her parents) have decided to help her learn to get herself to sleep. Who knew this could be such hard knowledge to acquire? Just shut your eyes, lay still, and sleep! This goal of self-soothing to sleep is especially important at nap time. Since she cat-naps I had been spending all day coaxing her to sleep, at least that is what it felt like. So for each of her 4 naps I need her to just go to sleep in her crib by herself so I can get SOMETHING done around this place, dinner for instance. So far it has been a hard process but we are making great headway. She is learning the cues that mean Naptime and for the most part she is going down much more easily than previously. Yay, Gwen. Keep up the good work. Now for some photos that make it hard to believe this kid could ever be exasperating.

Photo Booth Charm

I have always had a fascination with photo booths and the cute series of photos that result from the quick succession of flashes. The other day there was some lovely winter sunshine streaming in through the bedroom window to where I was playing with Gwen. I took a couple of fast snaps and this is the result. I could look at her sweet expressions all day. These photos are quintessential Gwen, happy and pretending-to-be-bashful.

I saw this delightful store front on my way to shoot a wedding last September and chuckled again when I found it in an album of miscellaneous photos recently. I wonder what they meant to get a across with all the question marks. Were they confused themselves? Or were they using people's curiosity to get them into the store to see if there was a sale? The world may never know.

Does this remind anyone else of Elvis? Avnish is an awesome guy! I shot some photos of him in various states of awesome style for his upcoming business. I do have to say that the gold jacket was by far my favorite of his accessories.

Katy & Jason's photos are in the mail and as I look through the edits I can't help but love all the candids! Katy didn't stop smiling the whole day. Her bridesmaids laughed and made Katy laugh constantly and that is a recipe for some great photos. This one is my favorite of the day. It evokes the general happiness of her day.

MY DREAMS ARE COMING TRUE!!! I love working with beautiful fabrics but occasionally I have a hard time finding the right colors. NO MORE! I have found spoonflower.com which allows anyone to upload their images or designs to be printed on fabric. WOW!

Last Saturday, I had the distinct pleasure of shooting a wedding with my cousin's cousin Laura Moseley. She is so delightful in every way, not the least of which is that she bought me, not one, but TWO grande cinnamon dolce lattes. It was so wonderful to catch up and have some real quality time together. Now the photos:

I love spring because it leads into my favorite season: SUMMER. All the warmth and new things growing and flowers and beaches and sandals and cute skirts and sunshine and LIFE! I cannot get enough of spring and summer and all they do to banish the cold, dark world of winter. The sunshine gives the world such wonderful gifts. It is these gifts to which I pay homage in this post. I am looking eagerly forward to the return of the sun and the worship thereof.

A month ago I had the pleasure to photograph some children who are very, very dear to me. I am glad that I have such good looking relatives who are producing children who are adorable and absolutely a joy in every way.

L sure loves baby J, especially when it wins her the praise of the adults! It was hilarious to see her figure out that we praised her for hugging her cousin which meant that she should, of course, hug him more vigorously!

I can't wait til the next shoot with these two. And soon there should be a third to add to the mix . . .

These photos are of the wonderful Moseley family. I was recently at home in North Carolina during a meeting Ralph Walker held. His daughter and son-in-law (who is also my cousin's cousin) brought their three darling children for an overnight visit at my parents house where Ralph was staying. I had a blast playing with the girls, Caroline and Claire, who are delightful and hilarious company.
